Innovative Community Participation

What Is Innovative Community Participation?

Increased Social and Community Participation is a sub-category under Capacity Building funding in the NDIS. It supports participants who aim to become more independent in community involvement and social activities. Those with this funding in their NDIS plan can use it for skill-building activities and classes that promote independence.

Enabling Disability Service stands out as a beacon of excellence in facilitating community participation, collaborating with a diverse range of Melbourne community groups to offer unique and creative opportunities for individuals with disabilities

How To Get Innovative Community Participation In Your NDIS Plan?

To access Social and Community Participation, eligible participants will need to discuss your goals to participate in your community more independently in your initial NDIS plan meeting or in your annual plan review. It is important that you are prepared with examples of the challenges you currently face in carrying out certain social activities on your own and why such support is needed to develop your independence. If deemed reasonable and necessary, your LAC or NDIS provider will have  Community Participation included in your NDIS plan.
